Smith Rock Get Away

Smith Rock State Park

Smith Rock State Park is one of our favorite places to climb and one of the best spring and fall rock climbing destinations in the Pacific Northwest. When much of Washington and the Northwest is still cool and wet, Smith Rock often offers ideal climbing conditions, particularly in April–May and October–November.

Famous for its welded tuff, Smith Rock offers an incredible variety of climbing on huecos, pockets, edges, and nubbins, with routes ranging from beginner-friendly single-pitch climbs to classic multi-pitch adventures. Washington Alpine Guides specializes in private Smith Rock climbing instruction, customized climbing courses, and guided multi-pitch climbing.

With scenic camping at the park, nearby vacation rentals, and hundreds of routes to choose from, Smith Rock is perfect for a multi-day climbing getaway. Whether you want to improve your trad climbing, learn multi-pitch systems, practice climbing self-rescue, or simply climb classic Smith Rock routes, we can customize the trip around your experience and goals.
