Valkyr Lodge Guided Backcountry Skiing | British Columbia Hut Trip 2028

This year’s hut trip takes us to Valkyr Lodge for guided backcountry skiing in British Columbia’s Kootenays! Join Washington Alpine Guides January 9–16, 2028, for Selkirk powder, beautiful alpine terrain, and a comfortable helicopter-accessed lodge with skiing right out the door. With our private chef taking care of the meals, we can settle into a pretty great routine: ski, eat, sauna, sleep, repeat.

Located on Naumulten Mountain, Valkyr Lodge gives us access to more than 4,000 hectares of ski touring terrain across eight zones on Naumulten, Mount Rollins, and Mount McBride. Big alpine bowls, steep couloirs, playful tree skiing, and rolling glades give us plenty of options throughout the trip. We’ll choose each day’s objectives around the snow, weather, and group—exploring sheltered trees on snowy days and venturing farther into the alpine when conditions allow.

The lodge is a big part of what makes this trip special. Six private, double-occupancy guest rooms, comfortable bedding with down duvets, hot showers, indoor bathrooms, and a drying room make it easy to recharge after a full day outside. We’ll gather around the dining table for meals, swap stories from the day, and enjoy the separate sauna hut before doing it all again the next morning.

Our private chef, Nicco Muratore, will prepare three hearty meals each day, keeping us well fed for long days of backcountry skiing. With certified AMGA/IFMGA mountain guides planning the tours and delicious meals waiting back at the lodge, you can focus on the skiing and enjoy time in the mountains. Powder turns, good company, and a comfortable home in the Selkirks—there’s a lot to look forward to.
