The Fang is one of the best modern alpine rock climbs at Snoqualmie Pass, offering seven pitches of consistently fun climbing in a spectacular position above the Alpental Valley. The route was established in the spring of 2023 by Washington Alpine Guides owner and IFMGA Mountain Guide Ian Nicholson, Piolets d’Or winner and professional alpinist Graham Zimmerman, and fellow IFMGA Mountain Guide and Piolets d’Or winner Tino Villanueva. The team spent considerable time drilling, cleaning, and developing the route with the hope of creating a new Snoqualmie Pass classic.
The result is seven pitches of excellent edging and highly featured alpine rock, with five pitches climbing directly along the prow of a steep, hanging arête. The position creates outstanding exposure, big views, and incredible alpine ambiance while maintaining consistently enjoyable climbing from pitch to pitch.
