Join me for a classic ski mountaineering linkup of two of Washington’s most famous—and infamous—steep ski couloirs. We typically begin with the SNOT Couloir, which requires a 50-meter rappel into a sustained 44-degree line. From there, we circle around to descend the Slot Couloir, one of the most iconic steep ski descents in the state.

With towering sidewalls, a dramatic 1,600-foot vertical drop, and a steep 50-degree entrance, the Slot Couloir delivers a true Cascades steep-skiing experience. Ropes are carried throughout the day, and we often belay the entrance depending on conditions to provide a controlled and safe start to the descent.
