Join us for one of the most exciting steep-skiing days at Snoqualmie Pass, linking two of Washington’s most famous—and infamous—ski lines: the SNOT Couloir and Slot Couloir on Snoqualmie Mountain. With a 50-meter rappel, sustained 40-plus-degree skiing, towering rock walls, and two classic couloir descents, this is an incredible day of technical North Cascades ski mountaineering just an hour from Seattle.

We typically begin with the SNOT Couloir, rappelling roughly 50 meters into the line before clicking into our skis for a sustained descent averaging around 44 degrees. It’s an unforgettable way to start the day and a fantastic introduction to combining ropes, rappelling, and steep skiing in real alpine terrain.

From the bottom of the SNOT, we circle back around Snoqualmie Mountain for the main event: the Slot Couloir. With towering sidewalls, a dramatic 1,600-foot descent, and an entrance approaching 50 degrees, the Slot is one of the most iconic steep ski descents in Washington. Once through the entrance, the couloir delivers beautiful, sustained fall-line skiing through a spectacular alpine corridor.

Ropes are carried throughout the day, and depending on conditions, we may belay the entrance to the Slot. For experienced backcountry skiers looking for a bigger technical objective, the SNOT & Slot linkup is hard to beat: rappelling into a couloir, skiing two legendary lines, and experiencing some of the best steep ski mountaineering near Seattle.
