Know for its incredibly rock quality, grippy texture and abundance of steep splitter cracks, Index is often considered the state’s best individual crag. While its reputation for stiff grades and stout climbs is well deserved this shouldn’t keep folks away as there are still dozens of moderates that are every bit as good as their more challenging neighbors. Index has a host of routes from one to seven pitches in length with most falling into the 3-4 pitch length range. The climbing is mostly on granite making it a perfect venue to work on your trad climbing, crack climbing, and mulit-pitch skills and its proximity to seattle (~1 hour away) makes it a near-to-town spot to grab some pitches.
